THE BIG MOVE – 2 WEEKS LATER

As I mentioned in Moving This Weekend…Am I Crazy?, Micah and I moved to a new and bigger apartment 2 weeks ago. It was definitely an interesting journey up to the move…

I was having lots of anxiety about the move, you know those questions that you ask yourself when you are making a big decision –

1. Am I doing the right thing?

2. Will I be able to afford it?

3. How will Micah be impacted?

4. Why am I driving myself so nutty about this?

When I finally got to a point where I realized that I was doing the right thing and it was best for both me and Micah, moving day was here!

Micah was off to his father’s house on Friday night, which allowed me to complete all of my last-minute packing. My friend Titi came over and we got it all done in no time at all.  I was feeling really sentimental the entire time – just thinking about all the memories that we had made in our old apartment. We moved into the old apartment when Micah was just 4 1/2 months old. Here’s a picture of him on this special day!

So you can imagine that I was feeling some nostalgia when we were leaving…

But then I snapped out of it when I realized that we would be making some great new memories at the new apartment.

Back to Moving Day…

Although the movers were scheduled for 9am, they arrived at least 20 minutes early and the Moving Day officially began.

This is how the new apartment looked when we first arrived…

The only thing I miss about the old apartment is my kitchen…I didn’t do that much cooking in it or anything, but it was huge. Plus, the old apartment had an open foyer for the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The new apartment has the kitchen enclosed with the dining room and living room out in the open. For a few days, I felt a bit claustrophobic in the kitchen, but now I’m getting used to it.

By Sunday evening, Micah returned home and the apartment was pretty much unpacked…
I’m a stickler for having things in order – it may be the organized freak in me!

Last weekend, we finally got Micah’s bedroom furniture delivered…that was so exciting!
One of the things that I always wanted to do was decorate my child’s nursery. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to have that experience with Micah but I’m thoroughly enjoying decorating his toddler room.
I’m working on some themes right now and I hope to have my ideas laid out to move forward in the spring.

Two weeks later and the apartment is a mess (as you can see lol), but we’re really starting to feel at home.

I’m still working on getting up all of our pictures and buying a few pieces to make it a bit more like home…otherwise, we absolutely love it!

Has anyone just recently moved or moving? Any tips or ideas for Micah’s room? Share it here!
