Safety has always been a big issue for me when it comes to my son. Being a first-time mom, I was concerned if I was doing everything right – whether it was how he slept, safety locks, and most importantly, his car safety seat. I would pay close attention to all of the safety recalls and make sure to stay up-to-date on the policies around car safety. The policies change so often that you have to make sure that you stay on top of it. Before Micah was born, I attended all of these classes to make sure I was provided with the most up-to-date information available (yes, I was that type of mom – a panicked mess!).
So it came as a big surprise when I recently found out from a car safety certified technician that I was using the wrong car seat for Micah, and it was installed incorrectly based on recent standards.
I learned that the best car seat is one that fits your child and your vehicle. Although the car seat was right for Micah at the time and the vehicle I had at the time, I was overdue for a replacement.
