2016: The Highlight Reel – Happy New Year!

The Epic Mommy Word for 2017: FOCUS!
Merry Christmas From Epic Mommy Adventures!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!! Can you believe that 2017 is here??!!!

I hope you had an amazing time ringing in the new year, and that 2017 brings you lots of love, happiness, and fulfillment!

Somewhere in the midst of celebrating Christmas, enjoying winter break, and preparing for the New Year, I realized that I forgot a very important thing – Epic Mommy Adventures’ 4-year blogiversary!

How the heck did THAT happen??!!

It has been four years since I started this little space on the Internet, and I am still excited as ever to continue blogging.  However, I must admit that I am somewhat of an impasse though.  I cannot figure out how to take my blog to the next level.  I cannot figure out how to transfer my words from my mind onto “paper”.  I am having a difficult time finding the focus and resolve to maintain my blog in the manner that it should.  No, this isn’t goodbye, far from it – I’m just trying to figure what works and reinforce that.

So that’s what I’m doing here a few hours into 2017…trying to figure out what’s next!

To figure out where you’re going, you have to figure out where you’ve been…

So let’s review what’s happened in 2016, especially since I haven’t shared much of it here on the blog.
Soccer was a major part of this year for us.  We normally just enjoy the soccer classes for one season, but I signed Micah up for two seasons this year.  It’s amazing to see how much he’s grown in the past two years and how much his soccer skills have evolved.  He went from being shy and quiet to opening up, and being one of the best players on the team.!

July is always an amazing month for us.  First, my lil’ man turned 5 in July.  I scheduled a grand party with  his many friends and some of our family members.  I was overwhelming exhausted after the party, but it was so worth it to see the amazing smile on Micah’s face the entire day.

Beach days are a must in the summer, and our summer was filled with some amazing beach days.

The benefit of living in New Jersey is being able to take advantage of the Jersey Shore.  We spend a lot of time on the shore on the weekends during the summer.  Since Micah and Titi’s birthdays are only 2 days apart, we always have our annual beach day in July.  We take a week day off and spend the better part of the day at the beach.  We have some of the most fun days at the beach during the summer.

Micah is officially a kindergartener! I am the mom of a kindergartener! Woot woot!

I have been experiencing such a wave of emotions since Micah started kindergarten in September, but I am so incredibly happy and proud of him for doing such a great job already.  His first day of kindergarten I can tell that he’s thriving; his reading and writing has improved significantly and he is just loving every minute of kindergarten.  He always has a million stories for me every day about what he’s learned and what he’s done.  He loves his teachers and classmates.  I was so worried about this huge change, and he has adjusted so well.

The Holidays are also turning into an amazing time for us…

From Halloween to Christmas, we have been celebrating in numerous ways.  We attended several Halloween parties including an 80s-themed skating birthday party.  Micah was an 80s rockstar, and he loved every minute rocking it out. We also had two other Halloween costumes – Raphael from the Ninja Turtles, and his costume from 2015 – Batman! We had several occasions for him to wear these costumes, including a Halloween ice cream sundae party at Chickfila, Halloween bash at Cub Scouts (oh yeah, did I mention that Micah is in Cub Scouts?), and Halloween parties at his elementary school and daycare.

And we had a similar line-up for Christmas.  We saw Santa many, many, many times in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day.  Micah showed a true love and appreciation for Christmas this year.  We went through our annual clean-up and donated several items.  Additionally, we went shopping and bought a few items to donate to Toys for Tots.  This helped to get him into the spirit of giving, and also for me to spy the things that he wanted for Christmas.

To end the year, we just relaxed together for the Winter Break.  We didn’t do much of anything, but it was great to spend time with Micah doing things that he wanted to do. We watched movies all week, drank hot cocoa, played with his Christmas gifts, and read many books – too numerous to count.

In the end, we had an amazing 2016.

I’m still continuing pursuing my MBA, Micah is doing great in kindergarten, we have spent ample quality time together, I started a new job in June which has allowed my career to continue to blossom, and now, I’m looking forward to creating a plan to take my blog to the next level.

Here’s to amazing 2017!!!!
