What Do I Love About Me? Finding Myself Again!

At what point do you stop dreaming? Somewhere when adulthood meant going to work every day to pay your bills? When being a mother or just a parent was the only thing you could remember yourself being and doing? When summer and vacations and weekends are always too short? I’m not sure at what point that I lost myself, but I definitely did. I remember being asked recently, “What are your hobbies?” and I literally could not find even identify one thing that I enjoy doing and could find time to do, outside of the normal “I love to read […]

Happy New Year 2022!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!! I know that the past 2 years has been crazy for everyone, and many are not claiming the year for fear that it will end up being a hot mess, but the optimist in me is feeling happy and blessed for being here to witness this new year. I am grateful and thankful for the health and happiness of my family and friends, the amazing new friendships that I’ve made this year, the excitement and possibilities of the new year, and so much more. This year, I want to move away from New Years resolutions and […]

Merry Christmas Epic Family and Friends!

I want to wish all of our epic family and friends a Merry Christmas! I hope your day is filled with joy, laughs, memories, and most importantly, love. We’re going to stuff our face with food all day (well, every 2 hours for this growing young man here!), watch holiday movies and listen to the nostalgic holiday music, and while he’s lost in his toys and games, I’ll be on the sofa enjoying some peace and relaxation, with some hot chocolate filled with tons of marshmallows!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Whereas 2020 seemed to drag on forever, 2021 is just flying by! I am still genuinely surprised that summer is over and we’re already in the throes of the holiday season! Our Thanksgiving traditions were in full swing this year – watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade (which I LOVE is back this year), watching holiday movies or shows, not eating until Thanksgiving dinner, and reflecting on the year and what we’re thankful for! This year we have so much to be thankful for! Of course, we have the standard family and friends, health, and gainful employment, but we also […]

We Bought Our First House, Y’all!!!

Do you believe that God gives you signs or a direct push to get your act together or to accomplish a goal that you have in mind but don’t feel ready to bring to fruition? I believe that was the case with purchasing our first home! If you recall, in 2018, we made it a mission to find a house. I was willing to take just about anything within my price range as long as it was in our same town. My son was insistent that we remain in the same town and continue going to the same school, and […]

My Lil Man is 10 Years Old!

My lil man is officially in the double digits! 10 years old! It feels like we have been waiting and planning this birthday for years, and it is finally here! My son’s birthday was this past Wednesday, July 28th, and he only asked for two things: go to the gym and buy soft pretzels. A strange combination – yes – but he has grown into a simple, uncomplicated kid. I love that about him! We’ve been going to one of our local gyms (our town is chock full of them!) for the past couple of months and there is a […]

I’m Tired of Adulting!

Why were we so excited about becoming an adult when we were children? I guess we always want what we don’t have, right? I remember telling my mom – “One day I’m going to become an adult and I won’t have to listen to any of your rules!” I envisioned the excitement and freedom of being an adult… Now here I am, in full adult mode – with a child, house, car, bills, and demanding job. How I do I feel now? I don’t want to be an adult anymore! I don’t want to work anymore! I’m tired! I’m sure […]

Starting Over!

I started Epic Mommy Adventures back in 2013 when I was at the peak of my single parenthood experience (or at least what I thought was the peak! If only I knew then what I know now!). My son was 2 and I was barely surviving through the “terrible twos”. I was struggling with the experience and needed an outlet without the expense of therapy. It worked for quite some time – 4-5 years to be exact – until I hit writer’s block and life block. My passion of writing became more of a burden, and I just didn’t have […]

HERE’S TO BETTER THINGS IN 2016!

It’s 2016 ya’ll!!! We were at home all day yesterday, all bundled up under the blankets on the 1st day of what could be a great year. Doesn’t that sound like a relaxing way to enjoy the 1st of the year?? To celebrate the New Year, I decided to review some of the things that I focused on in 2015, and how I plan to do things better in 2016. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for some time, and I got away from my plan for my blog as life got in the way (rightfully so). I intend on changing things […]

HOW TO CHOOSE A NEW PRESCHOOL…WHEN THE CURRENT ONE IS PERFECT!

You’ve probably heard me mention this several times in the past few weeks and I’m probably starting to sound a bit redundant by now – but Micah’s school is closing in June and I’m completely a wreck about it. We had one more year before Micah started kindergarten (holy crap, that is really around the corner, isn’t it??!!) and I thought I was good to go on childcare until then. Unfortunately, with the decision made to close the school, we are now back in the market for a good preschool. I’m still new at this experience, since I completely lucked […]
