An Epic Mommy Update…

Cutting the Cord...One Year Later!

An Epic Mommy Update

It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything here on the blog, and I felt the need to share what’s been going on.

The Next Step in Motherhood

First and foremost, motherhood continues to be a journey.  But hey, what should I expect? My lil’ man is almost 5 years old now – only 4 months away.  I registered him for kindergarten last week *sniff sniff*.  I struggled through deciding whether or not to put him in public school or keeping him at his day care for kindergarten.  After some very strenuous weeks of thinking, I finally decided that public school was the way to go. With so much uncertainty in everything nowadays, I had to make sure that he would always be able to go to school even if I was out of work.  Plus, the school district in my town exceeds all of my expectations for what I would want for him.

Baby Daddy Drama

Luckily, there has been no recent baby daddy drama issues in recent months. A lot of that has to do with the fact that we haven’t interacted with Micah’s Daddy much since November. It has meant a lot of peaceful moments in the past couple of months.  But that’s okay – I accept that this is the way that things will be, and have just decided to move on with our lives!

Focused on Education

I started the Flexpath MBA program with Capella University back in October, and honestly, it has been the best choice ever!  It is interesting and challenging, and almost every day I wonder if I’ll make it through. But with the support of family, friends, and the amazing faculty, I continue to strive and exceed even my own extra high expectations.  I’ll get through this program if it kills me!!! (Well, not really, but you get what I mean!)

Work???

Work continues to be fun, challenging, interesting, and this year, it has been confusing, ambiguous, and concerning.  It’s a new year, so everything is up in the air, and it gives me cause for pause in determining if I’ll have a position at the end of the year. However, things are starting to look up again and I am relatively confident in it all changing soon.  Either way, I have faith that regardless of what happens, we will still be okay.

Building Mom and Me

My mom and I have really carved out a great relationship over the past couple of months.  It definitely has to do with the distance between us – I guess it’s true what they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder (okay, that’s not how it goes, but once again, you understand what I mean).  We speak almost every day, and I think it brings her a lot of peace knowing that we’re okay.  So I make time to foster that relationship with her!

My Amazing Love Life

Who am I kidding? I have no love life!!! And it’s for a complete lack of trying. Whereas last year, I wanted to get back out there, this year, I am completely focused on achieving my motherhood and educational goals. Those are my main focus points this year. I feel that there will be time for a love life in the foreseeable future – for now, I’m focusing on Micah and me.

So that’s how the past few months has been going! No wonder I can’t get to writing recently.  Somewhere in there, I have to find time to write. It’s the one thing that tends to keep me sane!

Hope you enjoyed my quick update! Hopefully, it won’t take another couple of months before I share another update! 🙂

    Natasha,
Thank you for your amazing posts. Your posts have gotten me through some rough patches as I continue to follow this path of single motherhood and educational goals of completing my masters in education. It’s not easy, but without some obstacles, we couldn’t be the mothers we are today. I pray that you continue to be encouraged as you encourage others.
