It’s time to start the new school year, and I know many of the parents out there are really excited and anxious. I’m sure it’s especially nerve-wracking if you have a new kindergartener in the family. Micah is headed to preschool this year, and before you know it, I’ll be filling out the paperwork for him to start kindergarten next fall. I’m confident that Micah will learn the things he needs to learn in order to be ready for Kindergarten next fall, and I want to reinforce those lessons with some great new shows (in addition to all the other things that we’re working on together, of course).
There’s a new show on Netflix that although isn’t focused on heading to school, it presents some great lessons for young children headed to school.
Get the little ones ready for new experiences with Netflix original Dinotrux from DreamWorks, which premiered August 14th — prehistoric hybrid dinosaur-construction vehicles team-up to use their different skills to solve problems and show that even the most uncommon of duos, like Ty-Rux and Revvit, can form friendships of a lifetime.
DinoTrux is a really cute show, based on a children’s book series by Chris Gall, and produced by Dreamworks. It’s all about Ty-Rux (part T-Rex, part excavator), who after losing his home and all of his loved ones by a volcano eruption, decides to make a new home in a new town. However, the town is run by D-Structs and he’s not willing to allow Ty-Rux to move in. Ty-Rux refuses to be bullied and instead decides to make a home for himself by creating allies with other machines in the area, including Revvit, who is a tiny but intelligent Reptool (part chameleon, part electric drill).
The show’s premise is focused on friendship, looking out for others, sticking up for what you believe in even through criticism, and standing up to bullies. Those are definitely some great lessons that young children can take advantage of.
Micah and I are loving this new show, and we’ve already checked out all 10 episodes of the first season! We can’t wait to see what happens in Season 2!
In the meanwhile, we’ll be enjoying these great trading cards designed with some of the shows main characters!
