Planning for 2015: Blog With Purpose. Blog with Passion.

Single Parents: What To Give Yourself For Valentine’s Day
My Top 34 (20 + 14) Favorite - But Not So Popular - EMA Posts in 2014

2014 has been a year of evolution and transition here on Epic Mommy Adventures. I have been trying to figure out what I want to do with my blog, what were my plans for the future, and much more.

I’ve had some wild success, though, with some amazing posts, including:

and my blog has received tremendous growth with all of the amazing link-ups that I hosted and co-hosted. 2014 was the year that saw an end to several link-ups, including Social Media Sundays, The Weekday Mixer, and the Social Media Mixer.

Blogging with a Purpose

In 2015 though, I plan to start blogging with an intent, purpose, and inevitably more passion. And my purpose since I started this blog has been to help and inspire others. I am planning to do a couple of things to go outside of my comfort zone a little bit and regain some momentum with my writing. I have allowed writer’s block and other personal issues cripple me in 2014 and I haven’t been able to write as much about what is on my mind – because trust me, I have tons of ideas, I just don’t know where to start.

Here a couple of the things that I’m planning to share with you in 2015:

Build an Editorial Calendar

I will be starting some weekly series in 2015, and building a true editorial calendar. This will help me to stay focused on a particular topic(s) each week, and you’ll come to learn what to expect from my blog each week. I would love to hear – oh it’s Wednesday, let’s see what Natasha posted on that new series! That would be an amazing goal for me!

Here are some of the new series that I’m planning to start in 2015:

Scholarly Sundays (1st and 3rd Sundays each month)

I’m a huge advocate of early childhood literacy and education as a whole, and I love sharing about books that we are reading and different topics around literacy. Whether early childhood literacy, financial literacy, or just a book we’ve enjoyed, Scholarly Sundays will be all about education and learning. Check out the posts on the 1st and 3rd Sunday each month for some great tips & books for your family.

Greene and Crafty (2nd and 4th Sundays each month)

Nope, I didn’t spell that incorrectly, Greene is really her last name. Kelli – my dear friend, virtual assistant, admin, and so much more – will be sharing some green and crafty ideas each month on the 2nd and 4th Sunday. But it won’t just be that she provides the ideas, Micah and I will also be trying out some of the ideas too.  Ever since we did those Christmas gifts for Micah’s teachers and classmates, I’ve been feeling a bit crafty.  I don’t have one crafty bone in my body, though, so it helps to get some direction from someone who does!

Epic Headlines (Mondays – weekly)

For numerous people, Mondays is the toughest day of the week. After enjoying their weekends with their families, it is tough to start the routine of the week again. It’s the same for me too! But Mondays are also a day of reflection for me. I think about all that’s happened the week before, the weekend, and what I hope to achieve in the new week. I’ll be sharing all that and more on Mondays – my random thoughts, what’s inspiring me, my goals, as much as I can fit into one post each week. Whereas you may receive a summary on other blogs on Fridays, you’ll get it here on Mondays! I’ll also use this post as a way to share what’s coming down the pike – there may be more changes and you’ll find out first on Epic Headlines every Monday. I may even start vlogging for these posts – who knows!

Training Wheels Wednesdays (Wednesdays – weekly)

Parenthood is a wacky and entertaining journey. And sometimes you just have to share what’s going on in your world of parenting to help others get through their own experiences. And that’s exactly what I plan to do with this series. All of the quirky, silly, entertaining things that happens in my household will be shared each Wednesday. And I’m looking to read your epic stories too – you can submit your guest post or become a regular contributor!

OPEN (Thursdays – weekly)

Thursdays will be open each week for anything extra that may happen throughout the month – subscription box reviews, book and/or product reviews, giveaways, guest posts – anything above and beyond the topics scheduled for the week. You may see several posts on this day; so be prepared for loads of goodies!

Ask Epic Mommy {Parenting Advice} (Fridays – weekly)

One of the things that I’ve heard from fellow single parents is that they fear judgment from others (well more that they can’t stand it than fear it), whether through blog comments or in person. I want to create somewhat of a safe haven for fellow single parents and other parents to share their thoughts, issues, and concerns without fearing judgment.  Because we always need somewhere to go to talk to someone that understands what we’re going through. Every week, it will be a little different. I will be sharing my own posts focused on single motherhood, co-parenting, and much more, along with advice for other single parents. Additionally, I’ll be sharing stories from other single parents, and we can all learn and grow together.   If this series becomes popular as I plan it to be, I intend to open a Facebook group for even further discussion and inspiration. I’m also looking for contributors on this series, so if you’re interested in joining the team, please let me know!

Single Saturdays (Saturdays – weekly)

This series will be a weekly round-up of posts, articles, and more around the web about singlehood and single parenthood. As single parents, we’re not just moms and dads, we’re also single and either looking for new relationships, or like me, completely out of the game for a while. Whether you’re single or a single parent, you’ll enjoy checking out Single Saturdays each week for a good read.

Link-Ups Galore!

Link-ups have been the single most popular source of interaction with my fellow bloggers, and I definitely want to continue with doing them. Turn It Up Tuesdays will be getting a slight face lift for 2015. The content will still be same the same – everyone is included – but I’m looking to modernize the look a little bit more. I’m also planning to start a brand new and interesting link-up in 2015, and I’d love to have you join me as a host! And I’m also co-hosting several other linkups, including Wake Up Wednesday, Meandering Mondays, Throwback Thursday Tell-All Linky Party. But I’ll be co-hosting another link-up in 2015 so be prepared for it!

I’m also planning to do some special link-ups around the holidays, with some fun giveaways, so look out for those next year as well.

Participate in Online Communities

In the past 6 months, I have failed to engage and connect as I would like. I intend to change that in 2015.

I am already connected through a great community of bloggers through International Blogger Association and Working Moms United. For at least the first couple of months in 2015, I intend to increase my footprint through these amazing communities before branching out and seeking more communities to join and engage.

I will also be working on submitting posts on other blogs and websites – this is definitely a great tool to engage and connect with others, and I plan to really amp up my contributions.  I have already committed to sharing some posts on Women’s Guide Through Life and COCO Magazine, to name a few.

Contributing to all of these communities will help me to step out of my comfort zone a bit, and possibly keep the writer’s block monkey off my back.

So what do you think about these changes for 2015? Which change are you excited to see implemented? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

    • Thanks!!! I honestly thought that I was the last blogger in the world without an editorial calendar, too! I didn’t want to start an editorial calendar for so long because I’m not organized when it comes to those kinds of things, but it has made me so focused and on target. I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my blog!

Thanks so much for enjoying the post, and for the great linkup! 🙂
