Behind the Smile: The Untold Story

Since I started this blog, I’ve been debating whether or not to share this story…the story that lead me to this place in my life.  It has helped me become the person who I am today, but sometimes too much truth and seriousness is not a good idea, especially not for me.   I laugh and I joke about the relationship with Micah’s Daddy now because I’ve truly grown up from the experience…but sometimes it haunts me just as a realization of what was and a reminder of my goal to continue moving forward no matter what.   A little over a year later, […]

HOW TO DEAL WITH YOUR BABY DADDY

In a perfect world, single moms would not be single moms.  At least I wouldn’t be one…it’s exhausting work! I am a proud single mom but I won’t sit here and pretend like I don’t need any help.  However, that is not the reality of the world.  Many women step into being single moms of their own choice and others have no choice; they have to do what’s in the best interest of the child. GET OUT OF MY BED!!!

I just read a blog written by a Stay at Home Dad entitled (Co)Sleeping With The Enemy (it sounds funny already, I know…I was cracking up the entire time).  It actually inspired me to share my own co-sleeping story.  In order to give this story some justice, though, I have to dive a little bit into the past.  Yeah, I know you’re probably saying blah, blah, blah, get to the meat of the story.  But I’ll get to the funny stuff soon enough! So…when I first decided to leave Micah’s Daddy, we were actually all living together in his mother’s house.  Yeah, […]

Someone to Love Me: A Poem to My Newborn Son

I just found a poem that I wrote to Micah when he was first born.   We were in the hospital and I was laying on the bed watching him sleep in his bed.  It inspired me to write this poem to him.  I wrote it on a tiny piece of paper that I had next to the bed.  Shortly thereafter, I fell asleep and never found that piece of paper again. I almost thought that it was lost forever.  I’m so happy to have found it. Now I can share it with you… Someone to Love Me: A Poem to My Newborn Son Every day […]

DATING AS A SINGLE MOM

Where do I begin…dating when you’re a single mother is and always will be a challenge.  At no given point will it become easier to date, especially when you have a young child.  I should probably give up on the whole concept overall until Micah is a little bit older, but it’s nice to get out and meet new people and build friendships and potential relationships. When I moved into my apartment a little over a year ago, I never thought I would consider the option of dating again.  I was so wrapped up in Micah and seeing him grow and […]
